Sika Sarnafil single ply roofing systems enable the refurbishment of a failed roof in a number of ways, each subject to the condition of the existing roofing system.

Some typical specification options are listed below. However, please contact your local Technical Adviser for project specific guidance and advice in order to ensure full compliance with the project criteria and all relevant Building Regulations and Standards.

This option can allow the existing roofing system to remain in place. However, this is subject to a detailed examination and evaluation of the existing, including the condition of the roof build and the structural suitability of the existing as a structural deck.

An overlay system can be either mechanically fastened or adhered, which is dependant on the existing construction, but in either option it is designed to restrain the new system against wind uplift. Whichever option is chosen all necessary testing is undertaken and additional insulation is usually added to meet part L requirements.

In certain cases a partial or complete strip of the existing roof may be required. It may be that the insulation is wet or a major component has failed beyond repair and is no longer able to perform as originally designed.

Subject to a detailed examination and evaluation of the existing, it may be that stripping back to the supporting structure and installing a new structural deck, vapour control layer, insulation (to comply with current Building Regulations) and a new waterproof covering, is the most effective option.
