BREEAM, the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method for buildings and large scale developments, sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design. It has become the de facto measure used to describe environmental performance of buildings and communities in the UK and can be used for both new build and refurbishment projects.

Helping You Achieve Your BREEAM Rating

Depending upon the version of BREEAM that you are using to assess your building, Sarnafil Single Ply roof waterproofing systems can help you achieve the BREEAM rating that you are aiming for.

BREEAM NC 2014

Single ply waterproofing systems manufactured by Sika Sarnafil, can achieve up to an A+ rating (the highest possible rating) when used in a warm roof build up and depending on the construction. BREEAM NC 2018

The recently launched BREEAM New Construction (NC) 2018 is designed to promote building performance that goes beyond regulatory compliance and to reflect current best practice whilst maintaining technical robustness.  As such the standard no longer refers to Green Guide Ratings, instead focusing on Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), with a maximum 1.5 EPD points being awarded for an EPD for a single product and manufacturer.  For a copy of our EPD please click here.

Although the Green Guide to Specification forms the basis of construction material ratings for BREEAM NC 2014 assessments, and EPD for BREEAM NC 2018, there are numerous other areas that the Sika Sarnafil roofing systems can contribute towards an assessment.

We are able to provide documented evidence which can be used to gain additional credits under specific BREEAM issues, such as Mat 03 (Responsible Sourcing of Materials), Mat 04 (Commissioning and handover) and to Mat 05 (Designing for Durability & Resilience).

In addition to this our Accredited Details can be used with SBEM in ENG 01 (Reduction of Energy Use and Carbon Emissions).
